This is the perfect spot when you want to immerse yourself in nature, even though you live in the city. Pack a lunch and eat it in the grass by the Bronx River.

The Bronx Zoo is 265 acres of animal habitats for visitors to enjoy. With over 2 million visitors a year, this is a popular place for locals and tourists to see. The zoo is world-renowned for its large collection of animals, and award-winning exhibitions. You’ll see exhibits such as the African Plains, Aquatic Bird House and Sea Bird Aviary, Big Bears, Madagascar!, and World of Reptiles. This zoo is about as “nature” as you can get.

This park has what you need for an outdoor adventure. This 84-acre city park features wetlands and marshes, kayak or canoe launch sites, and a baseball field. If you need a place to unwind while watching the NYC ferries or planes, this is your place.

With no flair, this nature preserve, former estate land, is a section of Pelham Bay Park with forest, marsh, and shoreline areas. Walk in the woods or stroll the shoreline overlooking Hutchinson River. Or eat a picnic lunch at a picnic table in the park. Bring your pup to run in the nearby area as well.

Although not directly in the Bronx, it’s a bridge connecting Spuyten Duyvil and Inwood Park. It’s a cool nature spot when on either side of the bridge looking inland to either Spuyten Duyvil Creek or out to the Hudson River. Walk or bike across the bridge.

A large promenade with flora and fauna at the southernmost tip of the park. The area has 1.5 miles of shoreline, sports areas, a public golf course, skyline views of New York City. Reviews boast of BBQs, fishing, and soccer. Views of Whitestone Bridge and Westchester Creek keep you coming back to this park for more.

Although not in the Bronx, this is a worthy mention when talking about scenic views. This is a hire by the 15-minute helicopter tours. They will take you for a birds-eye view of the Statue of Liberty, Central Park, and more! Visit them at the bottom-tip of Manhattan.
