Before its name was changed, it used to be called “Fordham Manor” because of the large estate that was in that area. This area remained rural for the most part until NYC began to expand. This Jesuit private Liberal Arts college was founded in 1841 and currently has 7,380 students enrolled in the Rose Hill location. Overall, 148,618 students have graduated from Fordham University with many of them getting undergraduate and Doctorate degrees in philosophy, education, ministry, and juridical science.
