1. Wake up early

The early bird gets the worm. Waking early gives you a moment to breathe before moving ensues, and gives momentum for a successful day. Get enough rest, but don’t snooze the alarm too many times.

2. Lift with your knees

When you start moving boxes, lift with your knees, not your back. Don’t wear yourself out or, worse, hurt yourself. Maintain energy throughout your long moving day.

PRO TIP: Have a dolly on hand haul multiple boxes at once.

3. Wear the right gear

Clothing that’s comfy and not loose is good moving day attire. Jeans, a t-shirt or long-sleeved shirt, and closed-toe shoes may be the best outfit of choice. Thicker pants offer better protection in case you accidentally rub against a rough surface.

4. Bluetooth speaker

You’re gonna have to jam a little. Otherwise, moving may get hard and boring. Break out some dance moved with this recommend playlist on Spotify.

5. Don’t get locked out

Keep your keys with you at all times. There’s nothing worse than getting locked out at the start of your moving day.

PRO TIP: Use a rubber band to keep the door open — considering you don’t have pets or small children that could get out.

6. Clean!

Clean the old house with the cleaning supplies you put aside. Don’t forget the window sills, vents, and fans.

Cleaning the home or apartment you’re leaving FROM is not only kind for your next renter or owner, it’s also sanitary.

7. Say goodbye

Moving can be sentimental and emotional. Take a moment to say your goodbyes before leaving the old house. Remember the homes by snapping a few pictures.
